01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Whether you fancy a few appetisers with wine or a full meal centred on fish and meat, OTG is a Meguro bistro where you can pair charcoal-grilled dishes and French-inspired plates with wine.

One dish a diner enjoyed with wine was the pickled mushrooms, which also appear on the menu. They could be the start of a leisurely spread of small plates: duck pastrami with seasonal fruit and ricotta, or Ezo deer pâté de campagne. Another diner singled out the shirako cream gratin, describing the rich, silky shirako as complemented by its browned top. For a more substantial meal, the menu also lists Ezo deer, Yamagata Kinka pork shoulder and seasonal fish cooked over charcoal. Risotto options include corn with local hard clams and a cheese risotto with Italian summer truffle. The latter is a choice for anyone in the mood for the richness of cheese; one diner also reported enjoying the truffle risotto. It could round off a meal after appetisers and charcoal-grilled dishes.

For a more streamlined meal that still includes fish and a choice of meat, there is a casual short course of 5 dishes. It comes with unlimited house-made bread and a mini dessert. Another course includes a pairing of 3 wines, for diners who would like to match drinks with each dish. Both courses are listed as requiring a reservation by the day before. Menu information also lists more than 15 wines, including white, red, rosé and orange. The restaurant says it can suggest a bottle to suit your preferences, so choosing a wine to go with the food can be part of the experience. At OTG, you can decide between ordering à la carte and having a course, as well as how you want to enjoy the wine.
